NIH launches Genetic Testing Registry

March 6, 2012

On February 29, 2012, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced the launch of the Genetic Testing Registry (GTR), a centralized online resource for information about genetic tests. The intended audience for the GTR is health care providers and researchers.

The GTR provides a central location for voluntary submission of genetic test information by providers. The scope includes the test's purpose, methodology, validity, evidence of the test's usefulness, and laboratory contacts and credentials. The overarching goal of the GTR is to advance the public health and research into the genetic basis of health and disease.
