NIH Advisory Committee to the Director's NCATS Working Group report

The NIH Advisory Committee to the Director's NCATS Working Group has posted its report. The Working Group said that the proposed National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) is ideally suited to: catalyze translation by promoting innovative research; galvanize and support new partnerships; support and augment the discipline of regulatory science and its application; expand the precompetitive space by promoting information exchange and encourage the dissemination of research outcomes; harness the power of the CTSA program; and transform through training. The panel also identified examples of areas amenable to reengineering in the areas of target validation; toxicology; pharmacology; biomarkers; imaging; new uses for established compounds; devices and diagnostics; implementation science; and, chemical space.
