Project Office

Up one level

The DTRI Project Office is comprised of project leaders with expertise spanning basic science, drug discovery, preclinical development, formulation and device development, clinical/regulatory program management, and health services research. The DTRI assigns project leaders to lead development of core technologies, specific projects within the cores, pilot projects, and key operational aspects of the MURDOCK study.

Project leaders bring expertise and hands-on experience in highly regulated business environments, thus positioning DTRI to promote translation of academic discoveries into a form that is maximally valued by potential industry partners and requires minimal rework on the path to the clinic and, eventually, the market.   The project leaders develop and implement standard project management practices to maintain focus on critical objectives at all levels of the organization and positively enhance Duke's translational productivity.

Communication Tools

The DTRI Project Office also utilizes specialized tools to enhance communications among all project stakeholders.  DTRI project teams utilize a wiki to collaborate and a shared intranet for documents.  Structured reporting is used to communicate with all project stakeholders, including other DTRI/DTMI personnel, executive leadership, and external stakeholders.  WebGrants software is utilized to streamline the application, review, approval, and reporting process for the DTRI Pilot Program, and it is also available for use by other grant-providing programs across Duke University.
