Translational Pilot Project Program
Up one levelOVERVIEW
The Duke Translational Research Institute (DTRI) supports innovative translational projects focused upon the invention, preclinical development and/or first in man studies of novel therapeutic agents, biomedical devices and diagnostics designed to address unmet clinical needs. The mission of the DTRI pilot project program is to transform translational research not only by providing funding, but also by promoting basic and clinical investigator collaboration, providing project management assistance, and access to valuable core technologies and services in a collaborative and service-oriented fashion.
Funding for this program is provided through the National Institutes of Health, National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) Clinical Translational Science Award (CTSA).
PLEASE NOTE: The DTRI Pilot Program Request for Applications for 2010-2011 will be posted by December 1, 2009.
FUNDS
Funding cycles begin in July and end in June of the following year; funded projects are eligible to re-apply in subsequent years. The DTRI funded a total of 14 projects ($25k-$150k each) in the first two funding cycles. DTRI is funding 8 collaborative agreements in 2009-2010 ($60k-100k each).
ADVISORY AND OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE
Investigators work in collaboration with an Advisory and Oversight Committee, submit progress reports, meet regularly with the assigned DTRI Project Leader who works with the investigators to manage and track projects and serves as a resource to help identify and fulfill unmet project needs via the DTMI and other key resources. Advisors were selected to provide broad diversity and expertise across the translational compendium. See a listing of current advisors.
