Biostatistics Core
Up one levelResources Available
The DTMI’s Biostatistics Core provides consultation and assistance with statistical issues in the design and analysis of research projects. The Core includes a team of statistical faculty and staff with diverse and extensive experience in the design, conduct, and analysis of clinical trials and other biomedical research projects. These services are subsidized through the CTSA grant and we offer the following support:
- Study design: Consultation on statistical issues for new research projects. The DTMI biostatisticians offer expert advice on formulation of quantifiable hypotheses, identification of appropriate statistical methods to test hypotheses, and development of appropriate power and sample size calculations.
- Statistical analysis: Assistance with the conduct and interpretation of statistical analyses.
- Manuscript preparation: Assistance in writing the statistical methods and results sections of abstracts and manuscripts.
- General statistical consultation: Assistance in other quantitative areas related to biostatistics, statistical genetics, and bioinformatics.
The Biostatistics Core also offers pilot funding for the development of biostatistical methodology in clinical and translational research. [Find out more about the biostatistical methodology pilot projects.]
Funding and Review Policies
All requests are reviewed by the DTMI Biostatistics Review Committee. An initial consultation is provided at no cost to the investigator. An approved request for assistance with the preparation of an external grant application does not require funding from the investigator. However, the grant application should include an appropriate budget request for continued biostatistical support after the grant is funded. For requests involving extensive collaboration, a funding source must be identified.
